The technique is called Japanese hair straightening, and it lasts for up to 6 months. Imagine not having to use ceramic irons every day to get rid of those curls.
My hair is naturally wavy and I prefer wearing it straight. Without the waves it looks longer, and silkier. And shines like a flawless diamond in the sunlight. Plus I don’t have to deal with someone detangling my hair after shampoos. I will confess that I can’t stand having beauticians or my sissy girls pull on my scalp. It puts me in a very bitchy mood. I let few people in my hair.

It’s also called the yuko system , and thermal reconditioning. It’s a chemical process that should only be done in a salon by a beautician knowledgeable about the technique. The process takes more than 4 hours to complete. First a special conditioner is applied to your hair, then the relaxer that will straighten your hair. Your beautician will keep checking your hair, to make sure the process iw working correctly and to gauge how much more time is needed. After your curls have been broken down, the relaxer is washed out and a neutralizing solution is applied to your hair. Then washed out and your hair styled as usual. You can not wash or get your hair wet for a couple of days; just like with a perm. I wait at least five days to make sure the process won’t reverse itself.
On a side note- Never be afraid to ask questions while in a salon . Find out how long she had been doing the process, how many clients she uses the technique on monthly, does she go back for training classes and ask to see photos of her previous clients. And to be extra cautious you can even ask to see her beautician’s license, I have a girlfriend who does this.
